Setti arrived with attitude. By the time she was 1 hour old, she had bit and kicked my vet. No stranger to foals, he looked at me and laughed ..... not a good sign as he has a wicked sense of humor.  We called her our wild child.  Setti chewed off her mom's tail and the middle half of her mane. She spent a lot- no - A LOT of time on 2 legs. Humans became important in her life after weaning. We provide the maid service she felt was her due. She loved having her own stall.  From there she took on the job of "aisle monitor" and tattle tale. Early raining was a snap - she loved and excelled in her early work. About the time we were to start backing her, my trainer became ill and all my horses spent that time either in sporadic work or off on vacation in the pastures. In the spring of 2009 Setti went to be backed - just walk trot safe. In hind sight, the time off was the best thing we could have done for Setti. SHe returned from training much more settled and mature between her ears. We are going slow. She is very smart. Setti challenges  me to the limit as I work to find ways to let her believe this riding thing is her idea. SHe is making me a better rider and trainer by my having to allow progress rather than making it happen.
